The short version
What you do in soundhue stays on your phone. There's no account, no ads and no tracking, and the app doesn't use your microphone.
What stays on your phone
Your progress, your answers and your settings are stored only on your iPhone, and are part of your phone's normal backup. Deleting the app deletes them. We never see them.
The one thing that leaves your phone
When you open soundhue with an internet connection, it makes one request to Google's Firebase Remote Config service, to ask whether your version of the app is still supported. The answer is a single number. To make that request, Firebase creates an anonymous installation ID for this copy of the app and receives it along with the app's version and your phone's system version, language, country and time zone. Nothing else is sent: not your progress, not your answers, not anything you do in the app.
The ID isn't linked to your name or your Apple Account, and it is never used for advertising or tracking. Google handles it for us under its Firebase data processing terms, possibly outside your country (including in the United States) under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Google currently deletes an installation ID after 270 days without use. Deleting the app stops the request, and installing it again creates a new ID. For readers in the EU and UK, the basis for this is our legitimate interest in making sure the app you use still works.
The subscription
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple. We receive no payment details and no Apple Account details; the app only asks Apple whether a subscription is active.
This website
soundhue.co sets no cookies and runs no trackers. Cloudflare, which hosts it, handles your IP address to deliver the page and keep the site secure.
Children
soundhue collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Your questions and rights
Write to appsupport@soundhue.co with any question or request about your data. Because the installation ID is anonymous, we can't find one from a name or an email address; deleting the app is the sure way to end it. If you're in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If what soundhue does with data changes, this page changes first, with a new date.
